WHO WE ARE:
Honor Flight Network is a non-profit organization created solely to honor America’s veterans for all their sacrifices. We are a 501c3 corporation. Honor Flight of Southern Indiana is the 133rd Honor Flight
Network hub and serves the Indiana counties of Crawford, Daviess, Dubois, Gibson, Knox, Lawrence, Martin, Orange,Perry, Pike, Posey, Spencer, Vanderburgh and Warrick. We transport our heroes to Washington, D.C. to visit and reflect attheir memorials. This is made possible with the help of generous donors and volunteers.
OUR MISSION:
Honor Flight of Southern Indiana is dedicated to honoring America’s senior veterans for their sacrifices
by transporting them to Washington, DC to visit the memorials built in their honor FREE of charge. Top priority isgiven to our oldest veterans, along with those veterans who may have medical priority needs. Any veteran who has served this great country and has an honorable discharge is eligible for their free Honor Flight. A veteran does nothave to serve during conflict or overseas to qualify for his or her honor flight.
HFSI, the 133rd Honor Flight Network Hub, FACTS
- First HFSI flight departs EVV airport, October 2014,
- Between 2015 - 2019, HFSI has flown twice a year with 85 or 86 veterans per flight
- No flights 2020 - 2021 due to Covid, two yearly flights resumed April
- HFSI has completed 19 flights, and 2 virtual
- 1480 local Veterans have flown to Washington, C. for their Honor Flight experience.
- Service era represented with these 1480 veterans;
391 WWII 536 Korean Conflict 503 Vietnam 50 Other – Lebanon/Grenada
- We receive veteran applications
- Each flight cost over $120k.
- As a 501c3 organization, we rely on the generosity of individuals, corporations, organization, schools and everyone else.
- There are no paid HFSI Board Members or
VIRTUAL HONOR FLIGHT: HFSI currently offers a Virtual Honor Flight experience for those Veterans in our database who wish not to fly to Washington D.C. This is a one-day, non-flying experience that replaces the actualflying Honor Flight experience.
